What is a crypto wallet?

A crypto wallet is software or hardware that holds the keys to your funds on a blockchain. The coins themselves stay on the chain; the wallet keeps the private key that proves they are yours and uses it to sign transactions.

Why it matters

Whoever holds the key controls the funds, so the real question behind any wallet is where the key lives and who can reach it. A custodial wallet, such as an exchange account, keeps it for you. A non-custodial wallet leaves it with you, on an online device (hot) or an offline one (cold).

How Locker Protocol Wallet handles it

Locker Protocol Wallet is a non-custodial browser wallet with a difference: the extension you use every day holds no key. It shows balances on EVM networks, Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Tron, Sui, Aptos, Stellar and the XRP Ledger, and sends every signature to Locker Vault, an offline device.

Questions

What is the safest type of crypto wallet?

For money you cannot afford to lose, one whose key never touches an internet-connected device: a hardware wallet or an air-gapped signer. The best wallet is also one that shows you clearly what you are signing.

Can one wallet hold several cryptocurrencies?

Yes. Multichain wallets derive keys for many chains from one recovery phrase. Check which chains a wallet really supports, and whether the dApps you use can connect to it.
